Acrylic Pour Painting

The Process

My pour paintings use acrylic paints and pouring (thinning) mediums which I mix to various consistencies. I also use a variety of tools to achieve unique results. When I plan a painting, I choose a color palette and sketch out potential designs and compositions. Then, I do test pours and select a pouring technique. Once the initial pour painting is dry, I hand paint embellishments on top to create thematic context to the work. Each piece is finished with a varnish or resin topcoat. Although a large amount planning goes into each piece, there is also a level of spontaneity and unpredictability that can occur making each painting dynamic and enjoyable to create.
